The principle is simple: Oxygenated blood is transported to the legs.  De-oxygenated blood is then transported back up the legs to the heart. This transportation of blood requires pumps that are powered by the muscles and joints, with the veins functioning as pipes.
If the veins become enlarged, the flow of blood becomes inefficient.  Compression therapy constricts the pipes to restore adequate blood transport, thereby revitalizing the legs.
